AGENCY MANAGEMENT BASED E&O AND ETHICS (3 CE)
Live Webcast (Numerous Dates Available): This is not your usual Ethics and E&O course. Rather than focusing on what you're doing wrong, this program deals with structuring your agency in a way that will reduce the likelihood of having an E&O claim while firmly establishing proper ethical standards. We will address some issues every organization needs to face such as: Agency Culture, Management Styles, Policy and Decision Making, Team Building, Ethics through Transparency. By establishing a proper culture within the agency, managing E&O exposures and setting professional ethical standards becomes much more efficient and effective.
ETHICS AND BUSINESS (3 CE)
Live Webcast (Numerous Dates Available): What does it mean to act ethically? What are the different levels of ethical behavior (legal, personal, professional)? This course will include a review of the basic elements of ethical behavior, codes of ethics for insurance professionals as well as our ethical duties to our companies vs. our customers. We will also examine real-life situations that agents can find themselves in and explore the various options that we can take in those situations.
PROFESSIONAL ETHICS IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY (3 CE)
Live Webcast (Numerous Dates Available): This three hour seminar is a fast-paced examination of many facets of professional ethics. The seminar is in five major parts, and is designed to give participants an overview of approaches to professional ethics issues.
The first section discusses the difference between personal ethics and professional ethics, using the example of covenants not to compete. The second major section reviews objective ethical standards that are embraced in four major areas: case authorities describing the obligations owed to a client; contract requirements describing obligations owed to companies; statutory duties owed to the public by virtue of licensure; and trade association standards providing the goals and standards to which members of the profession should aspire.
The third section reviews and is designed to educate participants on the ethical “hot spots,” the areas where professionals are, at least statistically, most likely to encounter difficulties. Section four addresses the use of ethics statements, both personally and on an agency-wide basis. The last section is an opportunity for participants to put to use the prior sections.
STREET LEVEL ETHICS (3 CE)
Live Webcast (Numerous Dates Available): The objective of this course is to gain insight into ethical
behavior, and will discuss why the terms “ethical” and “moral” are quite
different, and why confusing them presents problems. Attendees will
become familiar with inherent conflicts in being ethical (if it weren’t hard,
everyone would do it); understand the value of a code of ethics; gain practice
in seeing the ethical dilemmas in common insurance situations; and will learn
to exercise individual judgement and reasoning in addressing ethical dilemmas
by relying upon accepted ethical approaches and applicable codes of ethics.
