Voting Membership

Welcome and thank you for considering membership with the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of California (IIABCal), the state trade association representing independent insurance agents and brokers in California. Completing this application is your first step to accessing the many benefits and services offered exclusively to IIABCal members, including automatic membership to the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (the National "Big I").

To be eligible for voting membership in IIABCal, you must be a business entity that (i) is duly licensed to transact property/casualty insurance as a broker and/or agent, (ii) has the contractual freedom to represent more than one company or group of companies under common ownership, and the unqualified discretion in producing policies to choose or recommend to consumers the company or group to which applications or policies are submitted, and (iii) owns expirations and renewals on the majority of business produced, and has the right to transfer or sell said business.

Membership dues for Voting Members are based on the agency's revenue related to insurance and financial services, including commissions for property and casualty, life and health, employee benefits, financial products, contingent commissions, interest income, fees for services, etc. for all offices in the state, rounded to the nearest $25,000.

Data gathered by IIABCal allows us to better serve you by providing more useful products and services, and strong legislative and regulatory representation. All firm-specific and operating information will always be maintained confidential by IIABCal.

Upon receipt of complete application and approval by IIABCal, a dues quote and invoice will be generated for your review. Membership becomes effective upon remitting dues.
